2005 Outbreak of Salmonella Braenderup at a Fair, Illinois
Two people attended a local fair and contracted Salmonella Braenderup. An investigation by the health department noted both attended the same local fair, but the case-patients reported eating at different booths. This was classified as an outbreak because the strains of Salmonella were genetically matched using pulse-field gel electrophoresis.
