Assi Market Pickles 2010

Cucumber pickles were linked to an outbreak of Salmonella Newport in Illinois. The pickles were purchased between July 25 and July 27 at the Assi Market in the Chicago suburb of Niles. The pickles were made in the market and sold in plastic bags. A pickle obtained from a family of two of the confirmed cases was sent to the Illinois Department of Public Health laboratory for testing and was found to be contaminated with Salmonella.
