1987 Outbreak of Botulism Linked to Restaurant Canned Chantarelle Mushrooms, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
An outbreak of botulism occurred among persons who ate canned, chanterelle, mushrooms. The mushrooms were an ingredient in dishes prepared by the Five Sails Restaurant, at the Pan Pacific Hotel, in Vancouver, Canada. The mushrooms had been canned by the restaurant for later use. One specimen of liquid from a bottled mushroom can showed the presence of Type A botulinum toxin.
