1991 Outbreak of Cholera Linked to Imported Frozen Coconut Milk, Maryland
Six cases of cholera were detected in Maryland and were associated with the consumption of an imported, frozen, coconut milk. It was a fresh, uncooked, product. None of the case-patients had recent international travel. The implicated product was imported from Thailand to a Maryland distributor. The manufacturer of the product was not licensed by the Thai Food and Drug Administration. Apparently the product had been shipped only to the United States.
