1994 Outbreak of Campylobacter Infections Among Visitors to a Dairy, Cardiff England
A nursery school trip to a dairy farm led to an outbreak of Campylobacter jejuni gastroenteritis. Illness was associated with the consumption of raw (unpasteurized) milk while visiting the dairy. There was a significant dose response relationship between the amount of raw milk consumed and the risk of illness. Campylobacter was isolated from cattle and bird feces obtained at the farm. None of these Campylobacter isolates were a genetic match to the strain isolated from the ill persons.
