An outbreak of Campylobacter jejuni occurred among student athletes who attended a dinner. Raw (unpasteurized) milk was served at the event, and people were aware that the milk was raw. The milk was a gift to support the team. At the time, the state of Utah, prohibited the sale of raw milk in traditional retail settings, but sales to individuals were allowed in some circumstances. The dairy that gifted the milk did not meet the legal requirements for making the raw milk available to the public.
