An infection control practitioner at a local hospital notified the health department after nine nurses called in sick on March 1. Stool samples were collected from four nurses. Laboratory analysis showed the presence of Norovirus. A case-control study indicated many of the foods at the potluck could have been contaminated. Potato salad appeared to pose the greatest risk for illness.
