2005 Outbreak of Norovirus Infections at New Brighton Elementary School, Pennsylvania

Elementary school students were sent home after coming down with gastroenteritis from the school lunch. The school admitted to improperly cooking the chicken in the school lunch and causing the outbreak. Later laboratory studies identified the pathogen as Norovirus. The school district subsequently hired a health expert to review cooking procedures and to provide training for the cafeteria workers.
