2005 Outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis Infections at an Etiquette Class, North Carolina
Fifth graders attending the private City Club for a lesson in food etiquette also received one in food safety. Members of the class came down with gastroenteritis within a week of the class. Samples showed the source of the illness to be Salmonella Enteritidis. An investigation into the cause of the illness indicated improperly handled and cooked chicken. The City Club indicated they would amend their cooking practices after this incident.
