2007 Outbreak of Shigellosis Linked to Lettuce Based Salads at Souplantation, Pasadena, California
In early August, the Souplantation in Pasadena, California, closed while an investigation into an outbreak of Shigella sonnei was conducted. Ill persons had eaten at the restaurant between July 22 and July 25. Environmental health inspectors did not identify any food handling violations. Eventually lettuce based salads were implicated as the vehicles of infection.
