Diners at a Rochester, Minnesota Quiznos Restaurant became ill with the same strain of Salmonella Typhimurium. An investigation traced the illnesses to raw tomatoes that had been used in the sandwiches. Initially the source of the illnesses was suspected to be improper food handling or an ill food worker. However, later it was determined that the contamination occurred before the tomatoes reached the restaurant.
