2007 Multistate Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 Infections at Tony Roma Restaurants Linked to Ground Beef
In January 2008, public health investigators in Wisconsin and California investigated E. coli related illnesses in persons who had eaten at Tony Roma's restaurants. The E. coli strains were a genetic match to one another. The ground beef patties were purchased from Rochester Meat Company. The ground beef was recalled. Employees of the restaurant were judging doneness of the hamburgers by texture and color and not by temperature.
