2011 Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 Infections at a Splash Park, Opelika, Alabama
In June 2011 nineteen people became ill with E. coli O157:H7 after swimming at the Opelika Sportsplex and Aquatic Center Splash Park in Alabama. Exposure dates ranged from June 4 to June 22. Five children tested positive for E. coli O157:H7. Three children were hospitalized. The facility was inspected, and water was tested. Water samples were negative for E. coli O157.
