In May 2011, patrons from separate dining parties became ill with symptoms consistent with norovirus following meals at a restaurant located in Edina, Minnesota. Implicated meal dates ranged from May 14 and May 18. Five outbreak associated cases were identified. No one was hospitalized and no one died. One stool sample tested positive for norovirus GII.

Two employees reported having gastrointestinal illnesses, with illness onset dates of May 13 and May 15. The employee with the May 13 onset reported working while actively having diarrhea. Employees reporting illness performed a variety of job duties at the restaurant, including food preparation.

Investigators concluded that the presence of ill employees indicated that contamination of ready-to-eat food by an ill food worker was the most plausible cause of the outbreak.
