2011 Outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis Infections in the United Kingdom
Beginning in early, 2011, an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis PT 14b was identified in the United Kingdom. Eggs were identified as the vehicle of infection. The identical strain of Salmonella was identified from egg samples and infected persons. The eggs originated from a specific shed on one farm in Spain.
