2012 Outbreak of Botulism in a Prison, Arizona
In August 2012 Arizona Department of Health Services, Pinal County Health Services and the CDC investigated 4 cases of botulism in inmates incarcerated at prison "A". All four inmates were hospitalized. The suspected vehicle was "pruno" a fermented beverage made with fruit and water. In this particular outbreak the pruno was made with potatoes.
