On March 30, the New York City Health Department announced that it had confirmed one case of botulism and suspected another case. Tofu was suspected to be the outbreak vehicle. Both cases resided in Queens, New York. They had purchased fresh, unrefrigerated, bulk tofu from a market in Flushing, New York. The tofu was not made at the store. The tofu was sold in an open, water-filled bin. As of March 31, it had not been confirmed as the source of the illnesses. Anyone who had purchased this tofu was urged to throw it away.
