In March 2012 public health officials in Minnesota investigated an outbreak of Clostridium perfringens among patrons of a restaurant located in Woodbury, Minnesota. The group reported no other meals in common. Thirty-nine restaurant patrons were interviewed. Seven met the case definition. Three of the 7 ate together. The remaining 4 were identified through credit card receipts. All 7 cases reported eating at the restaurant on March 24. A stool specimen collected from one ill person was positive for Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin type A. No food item was significantly associated with illness. Washington County Public Health and Environment sanitarians conducted an environmental assessment at the restaurant on March 26. Several issues were noted including improper cooling of beans and ground beef.
