2012 Outbreak of Clostridium perfringens infections at a Jail Linked to Rice and Cheese, Michigan
About 250 inmates being held at the Kent County Jail in Grand Rapids, Michigan, developed food poisoning symptoms starting April 15, 2012. The vehicle of transmission was determined to be a dish of rice and cheese. It had been prepared in large quantities and was not handled properly. No one required hospitalization. No one died.
