2012 Outbreak of Gastroenteritis at a Denver Rescue Mission, Colorado
Public health officials investigated a suspected foodborne illness outbreak among people who ate a turkey dinner at the Denver Rescue Mission on July 22, 2012. The suspected source - turkey - was donated to the center. People started to become violently ill just over an hour after their 5 pm dinner. A total of 40 people were transported by ambulance to the hospital. An estimated 350 people ate dinner at the Mission and it is believed that 200 ate the turkey.
