In January 2012, public health officials in Kansas learned of multiple dining parties who became ill after eating at Lupita's Mexican Restaurant located in Topeka, Kansas. The implicated meal date was January 20. Twelve outbreak associated cases were identified. No one was hospitalized and no one died. Stool collection kits were offered but no one submitted specimens for laboratory testing. Based on symptoms, incubation time and duration of illness, investigators concluded the outbreak was most likely attributable to norovirus. The vehicle of transmission could not be confirmed.
