In December 2012 the Casper-Natrona County Health Department and the Wyoming Department of Health investigated an outbreak of norovirus among customers of the Golden Corral located in Casper, Wyoming. At least 305 individuals became ill from November 17, 2012 through December 19, 2012. Almost 95% of all patients reported symptoms within 72 hours of eating at Golden Corral. Investigators determined that the illnesses were restaurant associated and not community acquired although how the virus was introduced to the restaurant was not determined. No single food item was implicated as the vehicle in this outbreak.
