2013-2014 Multistate Outbreak of Campylobacter Infections Linked to Chicken Liver Pate

In February 2014 public health officials issued an alert regarding an outbreak of campylobacter linked to consumption of undercooked or raw chicken livers. Three people live in Oregon and two others were from Ohio but were visiting Oregon. A Washington State resident got sick after consuming chicken liver pills. Most of the others ate chicken liver pate. In all cases the chicken livers were processed at Draper Valley Farms in Vernon, Washington. The processor sold them raw to restaurants and stores. One person ate chicken liver pate at Heathman, another dined at Wildwood, and the third Oregonian purchased chicken liver pate prepared and sold by a Market of Choice store. Draper Valley did not issue a recall.
