2013 Outbreak of Staphylococcus aureus Infections at Carniceria Camecuaro, Topeka, Kansas
Kansas Department of Agriculture closed Carniceria Camecuaro, an East Topeka, Kansas restaurant, after 26 people became sick with Staphylococcus aureus after eating food prepared at the restaurant. At least 4 people sought medical treatment at a local hospital but were not admitted. No one died. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment isolated S. aureus in samples of pork and green tomato salsa collected at the restaurant.
