In January 2013 public health officials in Minnesota investigated an outbreak of norovirus among patrons of a restaurant located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Illness occurred in members of two separate groups who dined at the restaurant on January 10. Three patrons met the case definition for illness. A stool specimen from one ill person tested positive for norovirus GII. Hennepin County Human Services and Public Health Department sanitarians inspected the restaurant on January 18 and January 22. They did not note any critical violations; however, some bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat foods was observed. No restaurant employees reported gastrointestinal illness prior to or on the date of the implicated meal date.
