In August 2013 local and state public health officials in Oregon investigated a multi-county outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium linked to Mexican style food served at several food service establishments in Marion and Polk Counties. Implicated establishments included Casa Tequila, Mi Casita and El Torito. A total of 21 cases from Polk, Marion, Linn and Clackamas Counties. Eighteen were laboratory confirmed. Ill people experienced symptom onsets between July 27, 2013 and August 17, 2013. A secondary case became ill on August 25. No one was hospitalized and no one died.

One food handler tested positive for Salmonella Typhimurium. He denied symptoms. The vehicle for this outbreak could not be determined
