Wisconsin Department of Health Services determined that raw milk provided by parents and served at a potluck dinner was the source of campylobacter infections experienced by Durand High School football team members. The outbreak affected 38 members of the football team, managers and coaching staff who attended a team dinner on September 18, 2014. Testing performed by the State Laboratory of Hygiene and area labs and clinics confirmed that the illness was caused by Campylobacter jejuni bacteria. Consumption of raw milk was the only commonality among ill persons.
