2014 Outbreak of E. coli O111 Infections Linked to Cabbage Salad, Minnesota
Minnesota Department of Health traced an outbreak of E. coli O111 infections to cabbage salad sold at Applebee's and Yard House restaurants in June and July 2014. Fifteen people were ill. Thirteen patients ate at Applebee's Restaurants in Minnesota. One person ate at a Yard House restaurant. Minnesota investigators traced the cabbage to a common supplier outside of Minnesota and continued to work with the FDA to investigate the source. As of August 29, 2014, the FDA said single cases of illness that match the outbreak strain have occurred in 3 other states.
