In April 2014 public health officials in Indiana investigated an outbreak of norovirus associated with a restaurant in Whitley County. In total 44 cases outbreak associated cases were identified. Three people were hospitalized. No one died.

During an environmental assessment at the restaurant, investigators learned that 5 of 9 food employees worked while ill with symptoms consistent with norovirus. Many violations were also noted at this time, including an inadequate employee health policy, improper cooling and reheating procedures, and unacceptable personal food storage items. The restaurant was temporarily closed on April 21. It reopened on May 2.
