2016 Multistate Outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis Associated with Avocados
In 2016 state and federal public health officials investigated an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis associated with consuming avocados. Fifty-nine people were laboratory confirmed with Salmonella Enteritidis and reported by 19 states. Seven people were hospitalized and no one died. Dates of illness onset ranged from May 22, 2016 through December 30, 2016.
