In January 2016 16 people became ill with norovirus after consuming food and drink at Buffalo Wild Wings located at 7030 W. 105th Street in Overland Park, Kansas. Onset of illness ranged from January 25 to February 15. Five of the 6 stool specimens received tested positive for norovirus genogroup II at Kansas Health and Environmental Laboratories. Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) inspected the restaurant on January 29 and found multiple food safety violations. Additionally, four employees were ill. KDA's findings included poor employee hand hygiene, insect contamination of liquor bottles and improper storage of equipment. Although Buffalo Wild Wings was associated with illness, the vehicle of transmission could not be confirmed.
