2016 Outbreak of Suspected Staph Aureus, Colorado
In May 2016 public health officials in Colorado Springs, Colorado investigated an outbreak of gastroenteritis associated with a meal at a sit-down restaurant. Two people reported symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea occurring approximately 4 hours after the May 8 meal. Duration of illness ranged from 1 to 4 hours. There was no laboratory testing of food or human specimens. Based on symptoms, incubation and duration, officials suspect the agent was Staphyloccocus aureus. No one was hospitalized and no one died.
