2017 Outbreak of Norovirus at Herringbone Waikiki, Hawaii
In October 2017 up to 45 patrons of Herringbone Waikiki, a restaurant located in Honolulu became ill with norovirus. Twenty nine ill persons were customers and 16 employees were ill. Six people were confirmed with norovirus. Exposure dates occurred over the weekend of October 7-8. An inspection conducted on October 10, 2017 found that the salad refrigerator was not maintaining the proper temperature of 41F or less. The restaurant closed on Friday, October 13 for a thorough cleaning.
