2017 Outbreak of Campylobacter, Cafe Juanita, Kirkland, Washington
Seattle King County Public Health investigated an outbreak of Campylobacter associated with a single meal party at Cafe Juanita, a restaurant located in Kirkland, Washington. The investigation was opened on June 24, 2017 when PHSKC interviewed an ill person diagnosed with Campylobacter. Illness in the second person was confirmed on August 16th. No other illnesses were identified. The ill persons shared multiple food items including foie gras. Foie gras has been linked to other Campylobacter outbreaks in the past, particularly when eaten raw or undercooked.
