2017 Outbreak of Campylobacteriosis Linked to Consumption of Chicken Liver Mousse, Colorado

In the spring of 2017 Colorado public health officials investigated an outbreak of Campylobacter infections linked to consumption of chicken liver pate at a sit-down restaurant located in Niwot, Colorado. Exposure dates ranged from February 26, 2017 to April 27, 2017. A total of 17 people were ill. Nine of these were laboratory confirmed. No one was hospitalized and no one died. The outbreak was linked to consumption of chicken liver mousse which was frozen and seared on a grill 1-2 minutes before being blended with cream, garlic and salt.
