In August 2017 Tacoma Pierce County Health Department officials investigated an outbreak of suspected Clostridium perfringens. Fifteen people reported illness after attending an August 19 catered event. No one submitted specimens for laboratory testing. No one sought medical care and no one died. Investigators suspected that a chicken dish was the contaminated vehicle.
