In December 2017 Public Health Seattle King County (PHSKC) staff investigated an outbreak of norovirus among customers of Mama Stortini's Restaurant & Bar located in Seattle. From December 11-12 PHSKC learned of 15 ill persons from 5 different meal parties. The implicated meal date was December 4, 2017. In total 68 people reported illness. There were no hospitalizations and no deaths. There was no laboratory confirmation of the pathogen responsible for the illnesses, but symptoms were suggestive of norovirus. Environmental health staff visited the restaurant on December 12. During the field visit, investigators identified at least 14 employees who had been ill in the previous 2 weeks. The restaurant was closed for thorough cleaning and sanitizing.
