In September 2017 public health officials in Idaho investigated an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis among patrons of Chiang Mai House Thai Restaurant located in Boise. In total, 6 individuals were ill. Five were laboratory confirmed. Two people were hospitalized. No one died. All cases ate food prepared at Chiang Mai House Thai on or after September 13th.

Environmental health inspectors conducted an on-site outbreak investigation at the restaurant on September 21. Environmental swabs and leftover food was tested for Salmonella. All samples collected tested negative for Salmonella. However, 5 of the 6 cases reported eating fresh spring rolls which the health department deemed was the likely source of the outbreak. The restaurant closed for a thorough cleaning for 24 hours.
