2018-2019 Multistate Outbreak of Salmonella Schwarzengrund Infections Linked to Butterball Ground Turkey
On March 15, 2019 the CDC announced an outbreak of Salmonella Schwarzengrund infections linked to consumption of Butterball brand ground turkey. On May 7, 2019 the CDC declared the outbreak over. Investigators had identified 7 ill people infected with the outbreak strain. Cases resided in North Carolina, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Illnesses started on dates ranging from December 19, 2018 to March 16, 2019. One person was hospitalized. No one died.
