Canadian public health investigators announced an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections linked to consumption of Celebrate brand frozen profiteroles (cream puffs) and mini chocolate eclairs. There were 83 laboratory-confirmed cases of Salmonella. British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador reported cases. Twenty-two individuals were hospitalized. Three deaths were reported. Illness onset dates ranged from November 6, 2018 through May 7, 2019.

Celebrate brand profiteroles and eclairs imported from Thailand were identified as the source of the outbreak. Eggs from an unregistered facility were hypothesized as the likely cause of contamination.
