2018 Multistate Outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis Linked to Gravel Ridge Farms
Forty four people were infected with an indistinguishable strain of Salmonella Enteritidis associated with consuming eggs from Gravel Ridge Farms. Illnesses were reported from 11 states. Illness onsets ranged from May 17, 2018 to August 26, 2018. Twelve people were hospitalized. No one died
On September 8, 2018, Gravel Ridge Farms recalled cage free large eggs because they might be contaminated with Salmonella. Recalled eggs had a "best if used by" dates of July 25, 2018 through October 3, 2018.
