2018 Multistate Outbreak of Salmonella Mbandaka Infections Linked to Kellogg's Honey Smacks Cereal
In June 2018 public health and regulatory officials in several states and the FDA investigated an outbreak of Salmonella Mbandaka infections linked to consumption of Kellogg's brand Honey Smacks Cereal. One hundred thirty five people in 36 states were infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Mbandaka. Thirty-six people had been hospitalized. No deaths were reported. Illness onset dates ranged from March 3, 2018 to August 29, 2018.
On June 14, 2018 the Kellogg Company recalled packages of Kellogg's Honey Smacks cereal.
