2018 Outbreak of Clostridium perfringens Linked to A Church Supper, North Carolina
In November 2018 Cabarrus County, North Carolina investigated an outbreak of Clostridium perfringens among people who ate food served at a barbeque held on November 1 at the Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church. More than 450 people ate at the popular event. As many as 300 reported illness.
Samples of food served at the barbeque were tested. Brunswick stew samples tested positive for C. perfringens.
