2018 Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 Infections Linked to Irrigation Water, Utah
In June 2018, Utah Department of Health investigated an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 infections among persons who attended a family reunion at a public park in southwest Utah. Thirteen of 24 people were ill. Two cases were hospitalized and developed HUS. Both recovered. The investigation team concluded the outbreak was likely linked to exposure to an irrigation stream that ran through the park. The stream was a popular feature to play in for many of the kids in attendance.
