2018 Outbreak of Gastrointestinal Illness Associated with Cheese Sauce, Washington
In August 2018, Benton Franklin Health District staff investigated an outbreak of suspected bacterial toxin linked to cheese sauce served at a sit down restaurant. Nine outbreak associated cases were identified. No one was hospitalized and no one died.
Investigators suspected improper cold holding due to malfunctioning refrigeration equipment and/or improper hot hold and slow cooling as the reason for the outbreak.
