An outbreak of Hepatitis A occurred among patrons of the Glenview Champions Country Club Restaurant located in The Villages, Florida. A total of 7 cases were identified. Exposure periods among outbreak cases ranged from October 28, 2018 to December 24, 2018. Onset of illness ranged from December 17, 2018 to January 8, 2019. Five cases were hospitalized. No one died.

Restaurant employees were interviewed regarding illness. None reported symptoms that were consistent with Hepatitis A. No staff had been sick for more than one day in the past 3 months. During an environmental health assessment, investigators observed kitchen staff not practicing handwashing between glove changes. the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations (DBPR) inspected the facility on January 9, 2019. Multiple violations were noted including an inaccessible hand sink, poor handwashing practices, food debris on surfaces and improper storage.

Investigators were unable to identify a specific food vehicle.
