2018 Outbreak of Salmonella at Kitty’s Restaurant, North Reading, Massachusetts
Local and state public health officials in Massachusetts investigated an outbreak of Salmonella linked to Kitty’s Restaurant located in North Reading. Illnesses occurred in June 2018. Thirty-nine people became ill. Nine were laboratory confirmed with Salmonella. The source of the outbreak was traced to the antipasto salad and possibly the house dressing.
Health officials closed the restaurant on July 5 and allowed to reopen the next day. It was closed again on Monday, July 9 because inspection found additional food safety and sanitation concerns.
