2018 Outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis, Newton County, Georgia
Local and state public health officials in Georgia reported an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis in Newton County, Georgia. As of May 18, 2018 four people had been hospitalized and as many as 70 people had been sickened. Most of the cases were linked to a private event held on April 28, 2018. On May 15th, illnesses including a confirmed case of Salmonella were associated with an event held on May 9th in Social Circle, Georgia. A caterer, Plain Nuts Catering & Deli, provided food for both events.
Illness onsets ranged from late April to mid-May.
