In June 2018 and outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium infections occurred at restaurant in Skagit County, Washington. Fresh produce was implicated as the source of the outbreak. Nine outbreak associated cases were identified. Five people were hospitalized. No one died. Investigators suspected cross contamination or inadequate use of chemical processes designed for pathogen destruction contributed to contamination.
