2019 Multi-province Outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 Infections Linked to Fresh Express brand Sunflower Crisp Chopped Salad Kits, Canada
Concurrent to a U.S. outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 infections linked to Fresh Express brand Sunflower Crisp Chopped Salad Kits, Canadian officials investigated an outbreak of 28 outbreak associated cases of E. coli O157:H7 infections reported by 7 Eastern provinces (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Laborador. Individuals in Canada became ill between November 5 and December 10, 2019. Eight individuals were hospitalized including one person who developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). No deaths were reported. The outbreak was declared over on January 16, 2020.
